Horatio, A Ladies' Man?
June 22, 2008
What is it about CSI: Miami - now in its sixth season - that it continues to sizzle and not fizzle?
Sexy beach babes, smart forensic investigation and entirely riveting crimes involving guns, gangs and lifestyles of the rich, famous and beautiful aside, we think it's the Horatio charm, and we are not alone. The Los Angeles Times writes, "CSI: Miami spells success with a capital 'H.' 'H' referring to the nickname for Miami Dade lead detective Horatio Caine (David Caruso from NYPD Blue). The ever cool detective is keeping CSI: Miami as hot as its tropical setting and turning up the temperatures in the brand new season six that premieres first and exclusively on AXN July 2 2008, Wednesdays @ 10pm (SG, MY, PH, TH) 11pm (HK), 9pm (JKT).
This sexy installment of top international series franchise is drawing lots of viewers, especially female ones. US ratings indicate that CSI: Miami is the #1 scripted series on Monday nights beating hit shows like Samantha Who? and Heroes, and is a top 10 scripted series among women aged 25-54.
Likewise in Asia, CSI: Miami is the #1 drama for all cable viewers during its broadcast time among regional channels. Part of the show's continued success could be attributed to faithful female cable viewers who have pulled-in higher ratings for the show than their male counterparts in countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan.
Even married ladies are not spared Horatio's charm. In Singapore, married female cable viewers have contributed to significantly higher ratings than single female cable viewers during the broadcast of CSI: Miami (based on its latest fifth season on AXN). Could it be Horatio's quiet and enigmatic no-nonsense manner, or the way he plays with his sunglasses that thrill the ladies?
Like they say still waters run deep, we learn in CSI: Miami's latest season that Horatio has a son, an unknown progeny by a mystery woman. The revelation comes early in the season when a teenager named Kyle Harmon who is arrested and jailed during the murder investigation of his probation officer, and a DNA testing reveals that Kyle is Horatio's flesh and blood.
While 'H' is determined to protect his son who is behind bars at all cost, his numerous criminal enemies attempt to use the boy to bring him to his knees. But when more crimes surface in Miami becoming linked to Kyle, is Horatio being taken for a ride by a bad son, and would he cross the line of maintaining justice to protect his son regardless?
It's a "high stakes situation" as David Caruso says.
Beyond Miami's leader that viewers have come to trust and love, the personal lives of other CSI team members are examined as they take on shocking crimes of vengeance, greed, lost-love and more. 'Bullet Girl' Calleigh (Emily Proctor) has her life and career on the line just as she finds romance with a new hunky detective in the division. And the latest addition to the team Natalia Boa Vista (Eva La Rue) clashes head-on with the arrogant Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo) even though he has been fired from the CSI unit.
On the crime front get ready for: the death of a pair of college coeds who are caught up in a financial quagmire resulting from high-interest easy-to-obtain credit; a murder involving an overnight "Internet star" whose cyber celebrity becomes more than she (and a jealous teammate) can bear; an important Miami sports figure is murdered and his body is cryogenically frozen, making finding his killer nearly impossible, and a serial killer whose first victim dies during a solar eclipse is an elusive target until the team discovers his one great weakness.
The investigators of CSI: Miami continue a daily quest to collect and analyze the oft elusive evidence which allows them to defend the memory of those who often cannot speak for themselves - the victims.
Get stuck in Horatio and team's red hot appeal when CSI: Miami returns on AXN this June 2 with its brand new season six.
