Blood runs deep in the Big Apple
April 30, 2010
Singapore, 30 April, 2010 - CSI: NY ended last season under a rain of explosive gunfire. A faceless gunman targeted the CSIs in their weakest moment: a memorial for the passing of Detective Angell (Emmanuelle Vaugier), brutally slain on the job by mercenaries. What more lies in store for the tragedy-struck team on CSI: NY, back on AXN for a 6th season this May?
As the dust settles in the opening of Season 6, key team member.Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) has been hit. Injured in his spine, Danny is suddenly faced with paralysis waist down. He is confined to a wheelchair and is faced with only 10% chance of recovery. Will his disability be too much for his new family - new-born baby Lucy and wife Lindsay Monroe (Anna Belknap)?
This season, the CSIs are plagued by the perils of love and romance. Having lost love to crime, Don Flack (Eddie Cahill) goes on a rampage for vengeance that can’t be satiated until blood is shed. Meanwhile, Mac Taylor’s (Gary Sinise) rather non-existent love life will be spiced up this season when he opens up his heart to emergency room doctor Dr. Aubrey Hunter (Madchen Amick, Twin Peaks). Just as he gets cozy in his new relationship, the return of old flame Peyton Driscoll (Claire Forlani) will leave him torn between the new and old. Not to be left out is tough Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes), affectionally dubbed by fans as “Rambo Stella”, who gives in to a surprise office fling. Who might it be with?
New cast members and guest stars bring fresh dynamics to the CSI: NY team this season. Sarah Carter (Dead or Alive, Shark) joins the cast as Haylen Becall, a crime scene clean-up technician aspiring to be a CSI who, while enthusiastic to be working with the forensic team, harbors a secret that will only be revealed later this season. Harold Perrineau of LOST fame shoots a harrowing death scene as a death row inmate, caught along with Dr. Sheldon Hawkes (Hill Harper) in a prison lockdown. The star-studded list of guest actors also include Gary Sinise’s daughter, Sophie Sinise, real-life racer Danica Patrick, model/ actor Antonio Sabato Jr and socialite Kim Kardashian.
A new serial killer will strike this season in the culmination of a multi-episode mystery, killing two seemingly unrelated victims before leaving antique compasses behind as hints to his next crime. Mac and his team are stumped by this mysterious madman dubbed as the Compass Killer (Skeet Ulrich, Jericho, Scream), especially when the latest compass he leaves behind spins wildly in all directions.
The cases encountered on CSI: NY continue to be creative riffs based on real-life inspirations. One of Season 6’s most talked about episodes pulls open the doors of “sploshing parties”, underground parties where sex is intrinsically tied to food and mess. Encounter a dance battle gone the way of deadly, and delve into the mysterious and dark subculture of vampirism. You will never know where and how death will knock on your doors in the city of New York. Thankfully, as the cases get more bizarre and intense, the CSIs have new technology to back them up. Viewers will be introduced to E.D.N.A., a shiny new crime busting technology, something they have come to expect of the franchise.
Undoubtedly, the show’s creative stories and compelling characters make CSI: NY one of TV’s most watched shows. CSI: NY led in its US premiere timeslot among adults 18-54 and has been consistently earning high ratings with the number of viewers growing each season. Mark the date, for this fan favourite will return next month to AXN this 24th May!
